The results are in on a groundbreaking survey detailing the mental health and substance use problems faced by people living with HIV. Confirming that both problems are all too common and frequently untreated, the survey is now being analyzed by the American Psychological Association for advocacy efforts to increase the availability of affordable mental health services for people with HIV. Eliminate the Wait for Health Care Federal law requires that people who become disabled wait two years after they begin receiving social security disability insurance before qualifying for health care benefits from Medicare. Advocates are urging people to take action and share their stories now so they can make sure that eliminating the wait period is part of the health care reform package that will be introduced in Congress later this year.
